Personal Info

He got his PhD from the Energy & Resources Group (UC Berkeley) in May 2012. He worked already on the bioenergy-water nexus from 2010-2011 and has excellent knowledge on sustainable bioenergy from his work at the RSB where he was Vice-Chair of the Steering Board.

He was Natural Resources Specialist for the EU Commission and Winrock International, evaluated impacts of the EU Water Framework Directive in 19 countries and prepared analyses and documents for the respective reports of the Commission to the European Parliament.

From 2012 to early 2013 he worked in the GBEP Secretariat in Rome. Since then he teaches at the Bioenergy Research Center at the Humboldt University in California.

At IINAS he is the focal point on “Biomass and Water” and supports analyses on fracking in the US. He is an expert in life-cycle analysis, energy technologies and policies, biofuels & renewable energies, and water resources as well as transport and trade policies.
